Fresh Leadership Takes the Field at the Israel Association of Baseball

Dr. Ari Varon Elected President, Succeeding Dr. Jordy Alter

KIBBUTZ GEZER, July 3, 2025 – A new era has officially begun for baseball in Israel.

At the 2025 Annual General Meeting, held at Kibbutz Gezer, Dr. Ari Varon was elected as the new President of the Israel Association of Baseball (IAB), succeeding Dr. Jordy Alter. Dr. Alter is stepping down as president after nearly six years at the helm. He will remain involved in a number of IAB programs, including spearheading the 2026 World Baseball Classic preparations.

“Jordy’s passion, leadership, and vision elevated Israeli baseball to new heights,” said newly elected President Ari Varon. “We are all grateful for his tireless contributions, and I’m honored to carry the torch forward.”

Joining Dr. Varon on the newly elected Executive Board are:

  • David Friesem, Vice President
  • Moshe Machline, Treasurer
  • Frankie Sachs, Secretary General

Together, the new leadership team brings a blend of experience, energy, and commitment to growing the sport across all levels in Israel – from vibrant youth leagues to elite international competition, and adapting to the evolving landscape of Israeli sports.

Dr. Ari Varon is a lifelong baseball enthusiast and former Israel national team player. He is a respected leader in the Israeli sports and medical communities, bringing a deep understanding of both grassroots development and high-performance athletics. He has long been actively involved in advancing youth baseball programs throughout Israel.

The Israel Association of Baseball extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jordy Alter for his years of transformative leadership, which have left an indelible mark on the sport. The IAB looks ahead with excitement as this new chapter begins, committed to its mission of developing baseball and inspiring athletes across the nation.
