Brad Ausmus Named Manager of Team Israel for 2026 World Baseball Classic

Tel Aviv – Team Israel today announced a change in leadership as it prepares for the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC). Bench Coach Brad Ausmus will assume the role of Team Manager, effective immediately.

Former Manager Ian Kinsler will step down from the role due to other personal commitments. Kinsler has played a critical role for Israel Baseball in recent years after playing 2nd base for Israel at the 2020 Olympics before stepping into the managerial role at the 2023 WBC.

Ausmus, a three-time Gold Glove Award winner and MLB veteran both as a player and coach, currently works as bench coach for the New York Yankees. Like Kinsler, Ausmus has a long history with Israel Baseball. He managed Israel’s first WBC team at the 2012 WBC qualifiers, and served on the coaching staff under Kinsler in 2023. His experience and relationships with Team Israel players and staff members will help ensure a seamless transition.

“I am honored and excited to take on this role,” said Brad Ausmus. “I’ve been incredibly proud to be part of Team Israel’s journey. My focus remains exactly where it has always been: building a cohesive, competitive team that proudly represents Israel on the world stage. We have a solid foundation, and I’m ready to hit the ground running with our talented staff and players to achieve our goals for 2026.”

Team Israel will compete in the Miami bracket of the 2026 WBC, March 6-10, at LoanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins against the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and the Netherlands.
